Misfits dive deeper into the FGC, signing Marvel player Angelic

Team Misfits, in partnership with the Miami Heat, are excited to announce today the signing of Armando “Angelic” Mejia as our sponsored Marvel vs Capcom player.

A competitive player since the beginning of MvC3’s launch, Armando “Angelic” Mejia has a storied history with the game, amounting to many top 8 placements at major Marvel tournaments, including 2 3rd place finishes at Evo in 2013 and 2016. Known for his Shuma-Gorrath, an otherwise rarely used character, as a part of his team, Armando Mejia has taken sets off many of the games other top players and seeks to make a statement at tournaments across North America in Ultra Marvel vs Capcom 3’s send off year, ahead of the release of the next installment in the series, Marvel v Capcom Infinite.

Commenting on his signing, Armando says “I’ve always felt like I was never able to reach my true potential in tournaments due to several circumstances but now, with Misfits, that’s changed. I will show the world how dominant I can be in Marvel vs Capcom and bring my gameplay across the globe. I am extremely excited to partner up not only as a player but as a TO. I truly believe that Misfits will do extremely well in the FGC and I’m excited to be a part of the team. The future of 2017 looks extremely bright!

Not just a top player in the game, Armando has been a tournament organizer within the Marvel scene, known particularly for his Undefeated tournament series starting back in 2015. He along with others in the Marvel community also recently started the The Curleh Circuit, a community effort rewarding circuit points culminating in a final event later this year.

“We’ve been looking to explore the FGC further” said Misfits CEO and co-founder Ben Spoont. “With Armando we have the opportunity not just in helping a top player showcase his skills across the country this year, but also explore other dimensions within the FGC such as tournament promotion. I’m excited to bring Armando aboard!”

Armando’s first event representing Misfits will be at West Coast Warzone, happening this weekend in Anaheim, California.
